Hi, I'm Mert. I'm the person behind Rentwise.
I'm an Ottawa REALTOR® and real estate investor. Rentwise is where I bring together what I've learned from both sides of a rental: helping owners lease their homes, and helping people find a good place to live.
Why I started Rentwise
I started investing in real estate in 2019, with my own money on the line. That taught me what owners actually worry about: a month with no rent, the wrong tenant, a repair nobody mentions until the bill arrives.
As a realtor, I've helped owners lease their condos and helped many renters find homes in Ottawa, including newcomers to Canada who were still abroad and couldn't view a place in person. Those leases went well when everything was done carefully and explained clearly. Rentwise is built on that: careful work, and clear answers.
From software to real estate
I came to Canada from Türkiye and studied computer science, earning a bachelor's and a master's degree. For years I worked as a software engineer. In 2023 I got my real estate licence, and in 2024 I was named Rookie of the Year.
The engineer in me never left. I like numbers I can check, steps written down in order, and paperwork that's right the first time. For a rental, that means rent priced against real leases nearby, tenants screened the same way every time, and Ontario's notices sent on the right form, on the right date.

Answers in writing
Rent recommendations come with the comparable leases behind them. Decisions, costs and dates are written down, so nothing depends on memory.
Ottawa is home
I've lived here for more than 13 years. I know how a Kanata townhouse and a Centretown condo rent differently, and how much a January furnace call matters.
